Trails: The
Plan
Brissy
Ridge
Trails
in the park.
Lake
Placid
Nature Trail
– a 1-mile easy loop around Lake Placid, starting at
any point beside the lake. The only steep area is by the dam.
This trail was modified in 2004 and now has wheel-chair access
along most of the backside of the lake until reaching the dam.
Sulphur
Springs Trail
– a strenuous 3.5 mile loop designated by white
trail markers. Plan on a 3-hour hike. This trail
begins at Sulphur Springs Picnic Area, where the trailhead map is
posted. This trail will take you to Mountain Lake within 30
minutes. Some just go as far as Mountain Lake and then turn
back.
Fire
Tower Trail
– this redesigned trail (2004) is a shared-use trail (mountain bike
and hiking). It is 1.25 mile long and now has interesting
curves and variations, while the ruts and washes have been filled or
modified, thanks to our trail gurus and many volunteer hours.
Brissy
Ridge Trail
– a strenuous 2.4 mile shared-use trail, this trail
is available to hikers on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
It is available to mountain bikers on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays,
and Sundays. When mountain bikers get to the paved Buckhorn
Road, they must leave the trail and finish on the paved road which
goes uphill back to the trailhead.
