Trails Page:
January 2004

New trail for the new year is the resolution at Paris Mountain State Park!

We have already cut 1000' of a new trail and hope to have it finished sometime in the month of March. Through the grant that many of you supported by showing up at Meador's on Main last March, we have hired a trail crew, Adam Winton and Ben Blitch, to work exclusively on trails.

We have already sent a letter of intent to pursue the grant again next year and we hope to have your support again.

Ben and Adam always welcome volunteers and your time helps us match the grant. Ben and Adam's schedule for the rest of January is:
Jan 7-10,
14-17,
20-23,
27-30
.

They meet at the park shop at 8:00AM and are out on the trail around 8:30. If you are interested in putting in a little sweat equity, e-mail us the dates and time that you can make it out and we'll give you directions on where to meet them.

We recently were awarded another grant and from January 13 - February 20, Americorps will be working here, at Paris Elementary, and on some neighborhood beautification projects in the city. The team consist of 14 people that work 40 hours a week on community improvement projects. If you see them, thank them for their great work.

We need 14 hardhats for the time that Americorps is here. We will return them of course after the team departs. If you have some extra hardhats that we can borrow it would be greatly appreciated.

We want to show off our city while Americorps is here and show these hard working 18 -25 year olds a good time. If you have any connections to some fun after hours activities (box at a Greenville Growl game, movie tickets, Frankie's fun park, tickets to the Peace Center, etc.) that they can due for free or at a reduced cost let us know.

After this new trail is complete we will be working on the Lake Placid trail (the trail that goes around our first lake). We are looking for input on some suggested improvements / areas that you didn't like when you hiked it last. Give us your feedback, come out and hike the trail and drop us a note.

As always thank you for your continued support and we look forward to your feedback.
